It’s every Marlborough girl’s favorite time of year. Starbucks comes out with its seasonal holiday drinks on November 1st. The day after Halloween, the Marlborough halls were filled with girls carrying red-and-white-colored Christmas cups filled with peppermint, gingerbread, and even eggnog lattes. The Starbucks red cup means that Christmas is almost here. Here are the most popular drinks this season:
Peppermint Mocha/Skinny Peppermint Mocha: The Peppermint Mocha is a seasonal favorite with a minty chocolate taste. Starbucks combines steamed milk, mocha sauce, and peppermint-flavored syrup. The drink is then topped with sweetened whipped cream and dark chocolate curls. This latte also comes in a 100-calorie Skinny version that uses sugar-free peppermint syrup and non-fat milk.
Gingerbread Latte:
This year the Gingerbread Latte’s recipe is new and improved. The recipe combines espresso with steamed milk and gingerbread-flavored syrup. But this year, Starbucks added cinnamon, cloves, and ginger to the whipped cream along with a drizzle of real molasses syrup.
Eggnog Latte:
The Eggnog Latte has been around since 1986. It is the least popular out of all the holiday drinks because most are not willing to try the eggnog mix. Eggnog is a sweetened beverage with a base of dairy. It is normally made with milk, cream, sugar and whipped eggs. Starbucks combines espresso with steamed and spiced eggnog and milk topped with ground nutmeg.
Caramel Brulee Latte:
This year Starbucks welcomed back its Caramel Brulee Christmas drink. This buttery-rich drink mirrors the popular crème brûlée dessert. Starbucks combines espresso with steamed milk and caramel brulee sauce and tops the drink off with whipped cream and a crunchy caramel brulee topping.
