Dr. Beth Rosenblum will take over English instructor Elizabeth Donnell’s two AP art history classes on Wednesday, Feb. 8 while Donell is on maternity leave.

Rosenblum earned her B.A., M.B.A. and Ph.D. in Art History from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She has been teaching art history for the past 11 years at UCLA, in addition to currently teaching at Cal State Northridge, Santa Monica College and now Marlborough. Visual Arts Department Head Gina Woodruff interviewed Rosenbloom for the job and said art history students will be well-prepared by Rosenblum.

“Dr. Rosenblum has been teaching at the college level…and since this is an AP Art History class, this is going to be exactly what you would experience in college,” Woodruff said.

Rosenblum said she heard about Marlborough’s opening from her college friend Advancement Coordinator Erica Jones and that she was already familiar with the school because she tutored a Marlborough student for her AP Art History exam.

“When I found out about the opportunity I was immediately drawn to it because Marlborough is an amazing school with great staff, facilities and students. Everything at Marlborough is a teacher’s dream,” Rosenblum said.

Rosenblum also has experience in ceramics and painting and said that she uses her knowledge about art as a window to the world.

“It’s taught me about so many different times and places. I feel like studying art history has opened my eyes to so much more than just my immediate surroundings,” Rosenblum said.

Rosenblum said that she is excited to share her enthusiasm and knowledge of art history with her students, which she said can extend beyond the classroom because it is found everywhere and connects to many different cultures and places globally.

“Hopefully, this class will plant a seed for a lifelong love of art and desire to study and experience it in person,” Rosenblum said.
