“I just want to have fun!” exclaims Kerry ’13 before she and Clare ’13 dance to Miley Cyrus’ version of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and bake a cake.

In case you are a little confused, this scene is from the newest birthday video from Student Body Secretary Clarry (Kerry and Clare). This year, the two council members will make a video each month celebrating student birthdays. A new video is sent to advisors at the beginning of each month, who forwards it to students on their birthdays.

Kerry and Clare have made two videos so far, for September and  October birthdays. The two seniors came up with the idea over the summer and shot theOctober birthday video as a demo that they showed to the rest of the All-School Council at the beginning of the year. Council loved the creativity and humor of the video. Who wouldn’t love to shove your friend’s face into a cake?

Kerry explained that it took time to perfect the moment when Clare pushed her face into the freshly baked cake. “We had to re-frost the cake and wash my face five times before we had a successful shooting where you could see my face getting shoved into the cake in the frame,” Cook said.

Sarah ’15, whose birthday is in October, loved the video and the recognition of her birthday by council.

“I wanted cake after that. It looked so good!” she said. Sarah also said that the October birthday video made her feel special because it showed that people other than her friends acknowledged her birthday.
