Hotchkiss to leave after 30 years at Marlborough

On March 1, Associate Head for Academics and Director of Upper School Laura Hotchkiss announced that she will be stepping down from her position after over 30 years of working at Marlborough to take on the role of the next Head for Academy of Notre Dame de Namur in Villanova, Pa.

Where entrepreneurship meets environmentalism

This year, a semester-long climate change elective was introduced to Marlborough for the first time by Science Instructor Catherine Mino and Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Regina Rosi-Mitchell. The elective combines two topics the teachers believed were crucial to study in tandem: climate change and entrepreneurship.

Teaching from home with young children

Many teachers across the nation have struggled to balance a teaching profession with the responsibility of caring for young children during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the Marlborough World Languages department alone, instructors Amy Pappas, David Sainsily, Vanessa Robinson-Kim, Fei Li and Department Head Elizabeth Vitanza, share similar experiences to Fuentes.

Marlborough reacts to changes to the AP policy due to COVID-19

Marlborough has modified its Advanced Placement exam policy for the 2020-2021 school year to permit students to opt out of any AP exam due to the adjustments required for online learning. Previously all 7th through 11th graders were required to take the exam for every AP class they were enrolled in to receive the “AP” designation on their transcript, and 12th graders were only allowed to opt out of one exam, and even then only if they were taking multiple.

Publications advisor Jena English and her husband Brandon Wilson premiered their second feature film, Sepulveda, at Urbanworld Film Festival in New York on Saturday, Sep. 21 and received a special achievement award from the Culver City Film Festival in Los Angeles after a screening on Saturday, Dec. 3.
