Angelenos can now discover Québec’s culture and creativity without having to cross the US-Canadian border.

“Québec in Hollywood,” a major festival that highlights the arts, cuisine and fashion of Québec, will take place in Los Angeles from Sept. 9 to Sept. 25.

As part of this event, Québecois films will play at the Egyptian Theatre starting on Friday, Sept. 16, beginning with The International Premiere of Starbuck, a comedy by Ken Scott.

Furthermore, restaurants throughout Los Angeles will offer tastings starting on Monday, Sept. 19 with renowned Québecois chefs such as Laurent Godbout and Jean-Pierre Curtat.

Godbout, the executive chef at Hostellerie Rive Gauche, will attend several public food tastings at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. Also, acclaimed chef Curtat of the famous Casino de Montréal is scheduled to make an appearance at The Grill on Hollywood.

Spring and summer 2012 collections of Montreal’s most acclaimed designers such as Dubuc, Mackag, and Marie Saint Pierre, will debut on the runway at a fashion show hosted by the Groupe Sensation Mode at the Hollywood and Highland Center on Thursday, Sept. 22. Performances by Opera de Montreal during the fashion show will provide further entertainment.

The festivities will conclude with the world premiere of IRIS, a Cirque du Soleil production, that will showcase at the Kodak Theatre. This new production blends dance, acrobatics and animation to expose spectators to the history of cinema and its way of transcending reality. In all, “Québec in Hollywood” allows Angelenos to immerse themselves in Francophone culture.
