Forget the weatherman, trust the groundhog

Pennsylvania’s furriest celebrity entered the spotlight once again and predicted an early Spring.

Who is this famed forecasting fur ball you may ask? The groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil!

Phil, who makes his home in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania comes out of his burrow every February 2nd, also known as Groundhog Day, predicting either an early spring, or six more weeks of winter.

According to legend, if the groundhog sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter weather. However, if he does not see his shadow (as happened this year), there will be an early spring.

Let’s hope Punxsutawney is right and those endlessly shoveling snow in the Midwest and East Coast storms have some sunnier weather to look forward to.
