New Tennnis Coach copy

Liz Franco, Marlborough Varsity Tennis Coach as of 2015

Native of San Diego, California

High School: El Camino High School in Oceanside

College: California State University, Los Angeles

SR: What is your philosophy on coaching?

LF: My philosophy on coaching is hard work, intensity. I like to bring out the players’ best at practices, and especially in games, because that is where they improve. My philosophy is to go 100% every time you are practicing or doing something.

SR: What is your favorite part of tennis?

LF: My favorite part is obviously winning games. I mean, that’s the best part! But also enjoying your teammates, having fun and enjoying the sport together.

SR: Your least favorite part?

LF: The mental part of it. Once your mental game is off, your whole game is off, so that’s the not-so-fun part.

SR: What has been your best moment on the court?

LF: Best moment as a tennis player has been improving my backhand. As a coach, it’s seeing all the girls have fun and improve their game.

SR: Where and when was the best match you’ve ever played? Who did you play?

LF: It was probably in high school. I played doubles with one of my fellow teammates. She and I won CIF Champions, so it was really cool. That was my best moment. We played La Vista.

SR: What are your hopes for this season?

LF: The goal is to win the championship for the school and for the team, to improve and grow our tennis program, also to see the girls play better, and to bond with everyone else on the team.

SR: What is one fun fact about yourself?

LF: I do 1000-piece puzzles.
