Soccer champion David Beckham, who has played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, England’s national team and, from 2007-2012, The LA Galaxy, has retired after playing his last game with French club Paris St. Germain (PSG) last Saturday, May 18. Beckham received a standing ovation at Parc de Princes stadium after he left the field in tears ten minutes from the end of the game. At the end, Beckham, draped in an English flag, received a Ligue 1 title medal for his time with PSG while the Beatles song “Hello, Goodbye” played over the public address system and the big screen played highlights of Beckham’s time at the club. When addressing PSG fans after collecting his medal Beckham said, “I just feel that it’s the right time [to retire]. I feel that I’ve achieved everything that I could in my career. After 22 years of playing football I’m going to take a few months to enjoy time with my family.” However, Simon Fuller’s XIX Entertainment confirmed Beckham will still be working with H&M and Adidas and, in his retirement, the soccer star will have more time to focus on modeling.
