Last spring, Marlborough students voted on who would hold the eight positions on the All-School Council for the 2024-25 school year. Each member of the All-School Council said they have immense passion for their responsibilities and many goals they hope to accomplish this year.
“I hope to use council as a vessel to make Marlborough a place that people are excited to come to,” All-School President Taryn ’25 said.
Taryn isn’t the only one who hopes to increase school spirit through her role on the All-School Council. Assembly Coordinator Lauren ’25 said she wants to make community events, such as All-School Meetings, Pumpkin Day and Homecoming, more engaging and energy-filled. Lauren hopes to use her position to increase school spirit and uplift the Marlborough community.
Communications Representative Anabel ’25 has continued sections created by former communications representatives in her emails, such as the “Senior Advice” segment. She has also introduced new segments in hopes of making her emails more engaging, like her “Culture Catch-Up” section, where she gives pop culture updates to the student body.
“Over the past few years, I have noticed that the Marlborough community was not informed as a result of them not being interested in what was in the inboxes each day. I hope to change this,” Anabel said.
Athletics Representative Savanna ’25 shares Anabel’s vision for a more informed student body. Jones began a weekly newsletter to foster support for student-athletes through consistent communication regarding athletic events.
Arts Representative Zöe ’25 said she wants to give more opportunities and recognition to students in the arts. The potential to make this happen through her role on the All-School Council is what inspired her to run. Like Zöe, Community Partnerships Representative Luna ’25 was motivated to run in order to spread the recognition of student groups. Luna expressed that she wants student-run clubs to be respected more than in previous years.
Other goals that All-School Council members hope to achieve include increasing mental health awareness and becoming more environmentally conscious as a school.
“My main goal is to continually destigmatize mental health in the Marlborough community because while it is something that’s discussed, I believe that incorporating more conversations about mental health will help make people feel less alone,” Wellbeing Representative Libby ’25 said.
Environmental Representative Aoife ’25 said she is focused on making Marlborough a more sustainable school.
“I am very passionate about eliminating the plastic utensils in Café M and instead using compostable utensils,” Aoife said. Middle School Representative Audrey ’28 said she has enjoyed getting to know the younger grades and wants to act as a voice for them in All-School Council meetings.
All-School Council members are already working hard to make Marlborough into the school the student body wants to see.
