While I cannot tell you the most painless way to die, I can certainly tell you that being mauled by a giant bug doesn’t sound like the most tranquil way to go.
In the Shaanxi region of northwest China, the annual appearance of Hornets occurs in early fall. This year, due to rising temperatures, a type of hornet known as the Asian giant hornet has invaded the region, attacking numerous people.
Beginning in July, attacks have been recorded in the cities of Ankang, Hanzhong and Shangluo. The massive hornets can grow up to two inches long, and their venomous stings can cause anaphylactic shock and renal failure. The hornet attacks have led to 42 casualties and more than 1,600 injuries so far.
Although this problem is not new to China, the yearly attacks are exacerbated by the change in climate; thus, the hornet attacks are yet another negative result of global warming.
