According to Wikipedia, the definition of leisure or free time is “time spent away from business, work, and domestic chores, and, where it is compulsory, education.” Now, as close as we are to the “free time” that we crave, we have a few more weeks before we can rejoice with the pleasure of having nothing to do, and, now more than ever it is important that we stay calm, cool and collected. However, to do so, we as a student body need to do our very best to get a good night’s sleep.
As hard as it is for Marlborough girls to get our rest, sleep is essential to the healthy brain function needed in order to ace our APs and finals, which of course is the ultimate goal. Across the country, teenagers aren’t getting adequate rest, and a recent study has shown that teenagers require over eight hours of sleep but are getting less than six, which affects school performance. Here, where girls can get less than three or four hours of sleep a night, it’s most important that we make our best efforts to get our rest. This way, we can stave off illness, stay alert for our final exams, and jump into our leisurely summers with ease.
