Since the 1970s, thousands of graduating high school seniors have gathered for an exclusive, all-night party at Disneyland, in California, and Disney World, in Florida. Unfortunately, Disney’s Grad Nite, an annual event hosted in April, May or June for high school seniors, will be discontinued in Florida at Disney World after this spring’s event.
According to Disney Parks Blog, Thomas Smith, Social Media Director of Disney Parks wrote: “With more guests visiting in the springtime, it’s become challenging to schedule special events during April and May.”
In addition to time constraints, in the past, Disney parks have experienced numerous transgressions by visiting seniors. Past problems include students possessing alcohol or drugs as well as students passing out in attractions and shows from lack of sleep.
Despite these grievances, Disney’s Grad Nite in California will continue as planned. This year, the event will be held from Apr. 29-30 as well as May 6-7 and will be headlined by 3OH!3 and Taio Cruz with a special appearance from Jersey Shore’s Pauly D. Just another reason why living in California is better than living in Florida!
Any seniors thinking of attending?
*This post has been corrected. A previously posted version stated incorrectly that Disneyland would also be ending Grad Nite after 2011, but only Disney World will be ending this program.
