What gives you goosebumps, makes you jump at every sound you hear, and generally gives you a strong desire to run for your life? Some people cower in fear of their own shadow, others cry at the sight of a scary face, but most people thrash awake at night from nightmares of the horror movie they just watched.
Halloween is only days away and the smell of candy in the air is accompanied by a strong sense of fear. October 31st is not only a time to dress up and go trick-or-treating; it is also a great time to revisit or discover new fear-inducing horror films. If you haven’t screamed at the top of your lungs while watching the shower scene in Alfred Hitchock’s Psycho or tightly covered your ears while the ominous music from Jaws blasted from your T.V., you’ve really missed out. This Halloween, whether you only see half of the movie from behind a pillow clutched in front of your eyes or you have to sleep with the lights on that night, make sure you experience the thrill of a good horror movie.
If you’re really feeling daring, make sure to go see Paranormal Activity 2, currently in theatres. For those of you who don’t find Paranormal Activity 2 scary enough, or if you’re just a wimp like me and would rather read about the movie then actually suffer through it, check out the links above for the two lists suggesting the top 10 scary movies of all time.
