The Mustangs ended a tough season with an overall Sunshine
League record 0-6-2. With the challenge of having a mostly young, freshmen team, the Mustangs didn’t have a lot of on-the-field playing experience together prior to the season.
Co-captain Becca Friedland ’10 said the team’s tie with Ramona Convent Feb. 10 was an indicator of the team’s progress because they had lost to Ramona 3-1 earlier in the season.
“I think that we always had the capability of tying or beating them. They are an amazing team,” Friedland said.
“We have a hard time scoring because we’re more of a defensive team. We don’t score, so we lose momentum,” she added.
Ruby Wrenn ’11 said that the freshmen’s improvement pushed the whole team forward as well.
Alix Cook ’11 said the team’s offense was struggling through the season, but “because we have a lot of freshmen, our team can only get better,” she said.
Friedland has hope for the team’s future.
“The team will have a lot of time to improve in the forthcoming years,” Friedland said.
