300 join Alumnae Day
The Alumnae Association honored Molly Mock Barnes-Caputo ’53 as its Woman of the Year at Alumnae Day April 24.
Barnes-Caputo, an art curator, gallery owner, art critic, Emmy Award nominee and a radio personality, said she enjoyed speaking at the event and returning to her alma mater.
Director of Alumnae relations Lynn McCarthy said Barnes-Caputo was chosen because she became successful taking a non-conventional career path.
“She took her Marlborough education and used it for the greater good,” McCarthy said.
This year’s Alumnae Day brought together graduating classes from every fifth year starting with the class of 1945. Over 300 graduates attended the day, which included performances by Chamber Choir, an alumnae art show and an alumnae panel titled “Writers Who Inspire.”

Laura K. ’11 heads to academy, McHenry wins scholarships
Junior Laura K. will be one of 112 students to attend the two-week Congressional Academy for American History and Civics this summer in Washington, D.C.
The highly selective program accepts only two students from each state to study the eras surrounding three of America’s crucial texts – the Declaration of Independence, the Gettysburg Address and, Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
Senior Lyric is the recipient of two scholarships. Lyric will receive a total of $40,000 over four years through the Ron Brown scholarship, which is awarded to 11 African American students who show leadership potential.
Also, the Magic Johnson Foundation will provide Lyric with a college mentor, internship opportunities, a monetary award, and a laptop.

Rosi will travel to NYC for Klingenstein Institute
Spanish instructor Regina Rosi is attending the Klingenstein Summer Institute for Early Teachers this summer. The program admits approximately 80 teachers from all over the country. They will all meet at Columbia University in New York for two weeks and work on issues such as curriculum, teaching styles, educational issues, and personal development.
Rosi says she is looking forward to studying the art of teaching itself, since teachers don’t have a lot of time during the year.
This program will allow me to step back and hopefully improve my teaching style,” Rosi said.
