On Groundhog Day, which took place on Feb. 2, Phil the groundhog did not see his shadow, which means that there will supposedly be six more weeks of winter. This prediction appears to be coming true for many people on the East Coast, where the polar vortex has left many cold and snowed in. However, in Los Angeles, the eighty degree weather we are currently experiencing suggests otherwise. Take advantage of the summer-like conditions by going to one of LA’s best beaches. Here are a few of my favorites.
El Matador: With its huge craggy rocks and beautiful secluded location, El Matador is the perfect place to relax and take photos. Parking can be difficult, but the breathtaking views are worth it.
Manhattan Beach: This beach is not as crowded or as touristy in comparison to its counterparts in Santa Monica, Laguna Beach, or and Huntington Beach. The beach is walking distance from the downtown, where there are many good restaurants and cute shops, and the Manhattan Beach pier is a good place for people watching.
Point Dume: Located in Malibu, this beach is beautiful and a perfect place for swimming, relaxing, and hiking. The beach’s many tide pools make it a good place for spotting seals, dolphins, sea lions, and sometimes whales. This gem is slightly difficult to get to, but because of this it is rarely crowded.
