Emily ’10, winner of this issue’s photojournalism contest took a picture of Charlie, the youngest climber on the US team and brother of Emily, climbs the semifinals route at the Junior World Championship for Sports Climbing in Sydney, Australia, August 2008. Submissions of the next photojournalism contest are due on May 15 and should be e-mailed as an attachment to [email protected]. The winning photo will be printed in black and white in the next issue of the UltraViolet, and the photographer will again receive a fifty dollar prize. Criteria for judging sumissions include the emotion and energy portrayed in the photo, the story told in the photo, and the photo composition. Photo submissions must be taken between this issue and the deadline.
