Debate 1 and 2 become quarter-long classes to accommodate an influx of student sign-ups

Sign-ups for Marlborough’s Debate 1 class more than doubled this year, with 44 students signed up for the class, which has led to structural changes in the middle school debate program to accommodate more students.

Increased enrollment in Advanced Placement Environmental Science

For the first time in Marlborough history there will be four sections of Advanced Placement Environmental Science. There was a 30% increase in enrollment from last year where there were 49 students in three sections to this year where there are 65 students in four sections. APES follows the AP curriculum which includes food production, waste management, climate change and energy. There are also a variety of fun hands-on labs and usually a field trip. Science Department Head Lisa Ellis emphasized the difference between APES and other AP science courses and why that may be a factor in the increased enrollment.

“Eager, flexible, and resilient” – Marlborough’s class of 2026

It isn’t their fault they don’t know how to open a locker. After all, the class of 2026 matriculated into Marlborough during a year of online learning and has spent only a handful of days attending in-person classes, let alone gathering as an entire grade on campus. From pleated grey skirts to Cafe M’s pancakes, this class of 8th graders has yet to experience many of the traditions of the Marlborough community.
